Church Staff
Rev. Colin Watson Senior Minister
Colin is originally from Melbourne and became a Christian after moving to Sydney nearly 30 years ago. He has been a professional musician, an accountant, a Chaplain/school teacher and a Parish Minister. Colin has been married to Allison for over 23 years and they have 3 children, James, Julia and Amelia.
Colin is a keen Sydney Swans fan but enjoys most sports, more in a watching capacity these days.
He loves to explain the message of Jesus to anyone who is seeking to understand what the Christian faith is about. He is passionate about helping people understand the Bible better as he believes that this is how God communicates with his creation and how we understand him better. When we read the Bible we can also understand and appreciate God more accurately. Colin is always available for people to speak with him on any topic.
Wendy Mayer Women’s Pastoral Worker
Wendy has lived in Sydney all her life and has been married to Bob for nearly 40 years. They have 2 adult daughters and an adult son as well as 3 grandaughters who she will talk about at great length if you give her the chance. She and her family have been part of St Stephen’s for over 30 years.
She has worked as an Analytical Chemist, as a Bookkeeper and has spent a lot of her time in Christian ministry to women and to children. She has been employed as the Children and Families worker at St Stephen’s since 2003.
When she wants to relax, Wendy enjoys reading and almost anything involving handcrafts, her current favourite being machine quilting.
Wendy believes that everyone is precious to God, no matter what their age is and that children are a full part of our church family at St Stephen’s.
Rev. Scott Lovell Assistant Minister
Scott grew up hearing the good news about Jesus from a very young age. He has always known Jesus as Lord and Saviour, which was encouraged by his family and church. Over the years God has been faithful and blessed Scott with a beautiful wife, Kathryn, and two daughters, Sophia and Annabelle.
Scott is new to the staff team having recently completed a Bachelor of Divinity at Moore Theological College (honours). Prior to studying theology, Scott worked as a physiotherapist in western Sydney. Having returned to northern Sydney, Scott and Kathryn are passionate about seeing people saved through the good news of rescue found in Jesus.
His particular focus at St Stephen’s is caring for the 5pm family service, which consists of a thriving children’s ministry, growing youth group, and contemporary service.

Chris Jones Youth Minister
Chris is very thankful to have grown up in a Christian family, who continue to remain a great encouragement to him in his faith. He is also very thankful for his wife Claire, and her loving support of his ministry.
Prior to undertaking theological studies Chris trained and worked as an architect. He completed his Masters of Divinity at Sydney Missionary & Bible College (SMBC) in 2010, and has been working in full-time youth ministry since then.
Both Chris and Claire are passionate Sydney Swans fans, and can often be found at local games on a Saturday.
Chris is particularly responsible for the youth ministries at St Stephen’s. He has a keen passion to train and equip youth leaders in order that the youth of the local area may come to know Jesus, and grow in their relationship with Him.
Bronwyn Friend - Children’s ministry worker
Bronwyn and her family had been members of the St Stephens church community for 5 years before she joined the staff team in 2011. Bronwyn has been married to her husband Phil for 17 years and they have been richly blessed with three gorgeous children, Bethany, Jonathan & Daniel.
Bronwyn has taught in schools for several years where her teaching & facilitation skills were refined by many students! She also has a Diploma of Theology from Moore College.
Bronwyn is deeply committed to the children of our church and to the diligent teaching of God’s word to them. The primary school age group is her focus and she is motivated to lay a firm foundation for the children’s knowledge of a loving God and to grow their faith in their Saviour Jesus. The Children’s Program runs sequentially with the 10am & 5pm Family Services, where Bronwyn teaches both in Church & in Children’s groups. She also works to train & support the many volunteers who give to our Children’s Ministry.
Let the precious children come to Him!
